More babble about "one space or two" after periods when using desktop publishing software. I say "babble" because the article fails to mention what I think is the single most important thing: it shouldn't matter! The software should be smart enough to figure it out, and have an option for the user to explicity say to the software "break the rules here". Both TeX and HTML operate in this manner by ignoring multiple spaces (you have to type " " to get a hard space in HTML). Unfortunately, mainstream software such as Word and InDesign have no such option which results this never ending litany of "one space or two". switch from InDesign to Publisher?Adobe has recently released Acrobat 7.0, one of the new features is “convert…Microsoft Publisher files into Adobe PDF with one button”: http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressmaterials/Acrobat7/pdfs/Acrobat_7.0_Std_AAG.pdf. I've finally (after about three months) gotten reasonably comfortably with InDeisgn CS, but it's still not as easy to use as Word. I've never done more than a little "playing around" with Publisher, but I suspect it will be similar to Word in many respects. One major hurdle at this point is I've got lots (several dozen) Illustrator files that would have to be converted to something else (raw PDF) before they could be used with Publisher.
