Here's an application that uses Google Maps to create a virtual pedometer.

 

Live forever?

Wired has an article about Ray Kurzweil predicting that in 20 years we'll be able to live forever.

While I really don't think this is very likely (and neither to most other people), it is interesting to consider in light of two passages from the Bible.  Genesis 5:27 says "...Methuselah lived 969 years...", that sure would qualify as "forever" by today's standards.  Then, in Ecclesiastes 1:9

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun

Archeologist have found ancient batteries in Iran, and they can only guess about things like the Sphinx.  So I guess it's possible that technology (or some other means) once existed that allowed people to live a very long time.
