It's not Halloween, it's Reformation Day

Today is also Reformation Day.  One nice organ arrangment of Ein' feste Burg is performed by Frederick Swann on the organ of the Crystal Cathedral.

VerizonMath

This is great: http://verizonmath.blogspot.com; it seems some people don't recognize the difference between $0.002 ("zero point zero zero two dollars") and 0.002¢ ("zero point zero zero two cents").

Ursprache

The whole country is now talking about this word: http://www.spellingbee.com/news_kerry.asp.  It is German, so it it pronounced roughly "oor sprack a".

Another more colorful note to compliment the $20 and $50 bills.  Still, nothing close to the Dutch 50 Guilder note.

Tag der Deutschen Einheit

Today is Tag der Deutschen Einheit -- day of German unity.  This year is the 15th anniversary of German reunification.

Talking about Bill's Space: Don't drink and drive

[ Since my comment was deleted... ]

Quote

Bill's Space: Don't drink and drive

"please don’t drink and drive"

Please don't talk on your cell phone while driving or exceed the speed limit either.

Drinking and driving is not illegal! (Neither is talking on your cell phone in most places). Exceeding the speed limit and driving drunk (generally BAC >= 0.08) are illegal.

[ put in the "politics" category because thanks to the efforts of groups like MADD, the issue of "drunk driving" has become far too political ]

Calvin for Bush

President Bush's commencement address this Saturday at Calvin College is getting the liberals all excited (you can do you own Google search).  calvin4bush.com is a grass-roots effort to show that President Bush really is welcome at Calvin.
